Authentic Helpfulness on Twitter

Remo (@bonedoc) tweeted he was reading the Tao of Twitter and that Gia (@giasision) and I didn’t need to read it because we were already doing what Mark Schaefer had written. Aarggh, that was enough for me to download it on Kobo so I can read it the soonest! 🙂  I haven’t finished reading the book but Mark says benefits from Twitter come from three elements –

Targeted connections

Meaningful content

Authentic helpfulness

Marc then proceeds to cite an example. Well, I just had my example now! Jane (@jjjanedesu), whom I haven’t met just did a Storify on #hcsmph! I got an email saying Jane quoted my tweets. Thanks Jane!

What is Storify? From Storify.com –

Storify helps make sense of what people post on social media. Our users curate the most important voices and turn them into stories. Together, we are building a new information network that will give you the social perspective on any event.

This is not the first Storify on #hcsmph. Pat Rich (@cmaer), a speaker at the conference kindly created one the day after. Thanks again Pat!

Why is this a story of helpfulness? If you’ve noticed 🙂 #HealthXPh hasn’t come up with its own summary of #hcsmph. Jane and Pat have helped us tremendously!

Do you have your own story of authentic helpfulness on Twitter? Let me know!

  1. For me, #authethichelpfullness was my aha! moment reading the Tao of twitter. Authentic helpfulness in twitter was what basically brought the tweeps at #healthXPh, and continues to do so now with the many things were doing for advocacies. This is one twitter advantage that I love most!
