#HAWMC: Breaking News

#HAWMC Day 5.

The blogging prompt –

The top story of today is…YOU. Share with your readers your proudest accomplishments in the last 5 years. Don’t be shy, tell us everything!

Umm, ok … 2015 has been a busy year so far!

I won an award for innovative teaching! It’s called the Gawad Pangulo (Presidential Award): A Competition for Progressive Teaching and Learning last February. You can view a video of my presentation and more details here. My slide deck is also available on Slideshare.

I co-founded the #HealthXPH tweet chat in 2014 together with Dr. Gia Sison, Dr. Narciso Tapia and Dr. Remo Aguilar. This hashtag is registered on Symplur’s Healthcare Hashtag project. Tweet chat transcripts and analytics are available on Symplur.

This team convened the first Healthcare and Social Media Summit in the Philippines (#hcsmph) last February! It was a one-day event with five main topics –
  • Social media and medical professionalism
  • Protecting patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Social media and health promotion
  • Social media and health professions education
  • Social media and patient stories

More about the program here.

At #hcsmph, #HealthXPh released the social media and medical professionalism manifesto. If this is something that resonated with you, please sign the manifesto here.

Lastly, I’m looking forward to speaking at the Doctors 2.0 meeting in Paris in June. I think I’m the only speaker from the Philippines. Thanks to Denise Silber! I’m excited to meet my Twitter friends IRL, especially Bernadette Keefe and Marie Ennis-O’Connor.
